The general minimum entry qualifications for Admission into various universities and collages in Tanzania 2023 are as provided below whereas specific admission requirements for Health and Allied Programmes are also provided. The Commission shall in consultation with stakeholders revise the admission criteria when deemed necessary
Criteria for Admission Into Various Universities Based on A’ Level Studies Completion:
Applicants who finished their A’ Level studies before to 2014 should have received two principal passes in two subjects, totaling 4.0 points. A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1, and S = 0.5 is the grading scheme.
Applicants who finished their A’ Levels in 2014 or 2015 must have two principal passes of grade ‘C’ or higher, with a total score of 4.0 points from two courses. A = 5, B+ = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, and E = 0.5 is the grading scheme.
Applicants who completed their A’ Level studies after 2016 must have two principal passes in two subjects, totaling 4.0 points. The grading scale is the same as stated previously.
Applicants who have completed the OUT Foundation Programme should have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 in six core subjects. Furthermore, they must have received at least a C in three subjects from a specific cluster (Arts, Science, or Business Studies).
Furthermore, they must have an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with a minimum score of 1.5 in two subjects or an Ordinary Diploma from a recognized school with a GPA of at least 2.0. They can also offer an NTA level 5/Professional Technician Level II certificate.
