This milestone came about because aspiring lawyers needed practical skills to practice law. Before the School, students received practical legal training through an internship program run by the Attorney General’s Chambers.

Later on some universities adopted a system called externships to impart these same kinds of practical skills. These systems have now been replaced by a new Practical Legal Training Program run by the School that is under the Ministry of Constitutional Affairs and Justice.

Sifa Za Kujiunga Vyuo Vya Sheria Ngazi Ya Cheti Tanzania

In order to be accepted in certificate courses offered at law collages in Tanzania, applicant is required to be a holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a minimum four passes( ie D grade) and having at least four passes in Form Four results including English subject but excluding religious subjects, or A holder of any other equivalent qualification.

For diploma courses, applicant is required to be a graduate of a Certificate in Law from the Institute of Judicial Administration Lushoto or any other recognized institution and having at least four passes in Form Four results including English subject but excluding religious subjects, or

Form six graduate with at least one Principal Pass and one Subsidiary in advanced certificate of secondary education examination and having at least four passes in Form Four results including English subject but excluding religious subjects.
