Matric Exam Results 2023: The final results of the matric class for the year 2022, which had written the examinations conducted by the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), have been released with an astounding pass rate of 98.42%. This level of success has increased slightly to compare with the success of students in the exams held in 2021. South Africa’s Department of Basic Education recently declared the Matric Results 2022, with every province showcasing an improvement in student performance. This is according to the official report released by the department when presenting the 2022 class results.
Matric Result 2022/2023 Overall Performance
The Class of 2022 achieved an overall NSC pass rate of 80.1% in matric exam results 2022, a significant 3.7% improvement from the 2021 Class, who recorded 76.4%. This remarkable achievement consists of 580 555 successful candidates, 7.9% more than in the previous year.
It should be noted that while the number of students who passed the NSC exam for the Class of 2022 is the highest in its history, when expressed as a percentage, that of the Class of 2019, which attained 81.3% pass rate, stands out as the highest so far. This means that more students have passed the NSC examination this year than any other previous year.
The ministry attributed the increase in pass rate to enhanced quality control measures, which it said have been introduced into the system. The measures include more stringent teacher training and certification, as well as regular review of examination centres by experts.
In the 2022 Matric Examination, 278,814 candidates have qualified for Bachelor studies at universities—an 8.9% increase from 2021. This equates to 38.4% of the total number of exam-takers, the highest number ever in NSC history and the second highest percentage recorded.
The number of students who achieved a diploma pass in the 2022 matric examinations surged to 193,357 – an 8.9% increase from 2021 and representing 26.7% of all test–takers. In addition to that; This year saw a 4.1% uptick in the number of applicants that earned a Higher Certificate pass in the 2022 matric exam – reaching 108,159 – compared to the previous year, comprising 14.9% of the total applicants in the 2022 NSC exams.

Minister Blade Nzimande of the Higher Education, Science and Innovation Ministry has expressed his good wishes to the matriculation class of 2022 as they are waiting for the board announcement on the their results.
Nzimande’s office released a statement to guarantee current and incoming university students that the upcoming academic year would be unaffected by the declaration and release of the 2023 Matric exam results.

When Will The Results Be Published Online?
Individual matric results for all students took the IEB exams is now available online and was made available from midnight on 18 January. If you have not yet check your results please visit the IEB website here to check now.
On the twentieth of January at 6 a.m., the individual National Senior Certificate (NSC) results for most provinces will be made available online. The Western Cape, however, will release theirs at 4 p.m. that same day.
Angie Motshekga, Minister of Basic Education, is scheduled to make a press announcement regarding the national matric results at 6 PM on the 19th of January, for all those interested in the country’s overall performance.
Where and how can get my Matric results 2023 Online?
In order to get the results of your Matric exam online, you need to visit various matric result portals and then write your exam number on those websites accepted by the Department of education to publish the matric results. Among the websites that agree to publish the results is News24.

This website will only display the results of students who have consented to have their results published in the media in compliance with the new Law on the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) that came into force in December 2021.
For students who did not fill out the forms to choose to accept their results to be published in the media, they will have to contact the schools where they took their exams or the regional education department to get their results.
Another way to check your matric results 2023 is through an SMS service. To use this service, you will need to send a text message with your examination number to 35658. You should receive a reply within a few minutes with your results.
