Kisimiri Secondary School is the product of a collaborative effort by Kisimiri residents. Prof. Emil Karafiat of Switzerland, whose roots and early childhood life may be traced back to this community on the slopes of Mount Meru in Ngarenanyuki ward, Meru district in Arusha Region-65 kilometers from Arusha City, later offered a substantial push to the local movement.

Kisimiri Secondary Institution opened in May 2002 as a fully recognized government school. It is a co-educational school that teaches science and the arts. It offers two combinations for form five and six: HKL (History, Kiswahili, and English Language) and PCM (Physical Culture and Mathematics) (Physics, Chemistry, and Advanced Mathematics).

The school contains both day and boarding students, and they all follow the same study pattern from morning to afternoon. Scholars are all A-level students who reside on campus. Mr. Valentine Tarimo, the fourth Headmaster of this school, succeeds Mr. Emmanuel John Kisongo, Mr. Martin Raphael Hari, and Mr. Togolan Stanley Mbwambo in bringing the institution to success.
