Mwanza Region was officially established in 1963 with four districts of Ukerewe, Geita, Mwanza and Kwimba. In 1972, after the policy of power in the regions, more districts were established starting with Magu in 1974. Sengerema district was established in 1975 where it was originally one of the divisions of Geita district.
Misungwi was established in 1995 where previously it was the area of Kwimba district divisions, Ilemela and Nyamagana were established in 2002 which were forming Mwanza district. In 2010 the new regions of Geita and Simiyu were announced to be established. The new districts of Busega and Nyanghwale were also announced to be established in 2010 and its implementation will officially begin anytime in the 2011/12 financial year.
Mwanza Region is one of the 30 regions of Tanzania. Regional boundaries, Mwanza Region is bordered by Geita in the west, Shinyanga and Simiyu in the south and Mara in the east. Lake Victoria Nyanza is in the north.

To check your Form Five Selection 2023/2024 for Mwanza Region schools, follow these simple steps:
- Visit the TAMISEMI Selform system webpage at https://selform.tamisemi.go.tz/
- Click on the “Selection Results” button.
- Select the selection batch, i.e., “First Selection, 2023“, and then click on “Mwanza“. Next, click on the district where your O-level school is located.
- You will then be able to see the complete list of schools located in the respective district. Click on the name of the school where you graduated your ordinary level education to access the names of students who are selected to join various form five schools.
