Gamondi’s career as a head coach began in 1998 when he took on the role of Racing Club of Argentina. He held this position until 1999. In 2000, he expanded his horizons to Africa and collaborated with Coach Oscar Fullone to oversee Al-Ahly of Libya before moving on to train the national team of Burkina Faso.
Following his departure from Esperance, Gamondi served as an assistant coach for a brief period. This term lasted less than seven months – from January 7th to June 30th- in the year of 2004. Subsequently, on July 1st, 2005 he embarked upon a new journey with Mamelodi Sundowns and holds the distinction of being the first non-African coach to be in charge of an African team during his coaching career.
Subsequently, Gamondi served a short tenure as an assistant coach at Esperance, which lasted just under seven months commencing on January 7, 2004, and ending on June 30, 2004. On July 1st of the following year, he assumed the role of coach for Mamelodi Sundowns. Notably, Gamondi made history by becoming the first non-African coach to lead an African team in his coaching career.
Nonetheless, his stint at Mamelodi was brief as he was dismissed on October 3rd, 2006 mere months into the 2005/06 season. Subsequent to his departure, Gamondi transitioned to Hassania in Morocco where he fulfilled a coaching role from January to November of 2007.
