Yanga Stars are preparing for an important Champions League match against CR Belouizdad, but it seems their best players, Maxi Nzengeli and Stephane Aziz KI, have attracted the Belgian giants with plans to move.
Maxi Nzengeli, recently signed from AS Maneama Union of DR Congo, has made a big impact by scoring seven goals this season, including two goals against Simba in a 5-1 win. His prowess has not been forgotten, attracting the attention of Belgian clubs Eupen and KVK Kortrijk.
Yanga is about to face CR Belouizdad in Algeria for their Champions League Group D match, and reports say that Alfred Raoul, who is a scout associated with three Belgian clubs, will be there to closely watch Maxi and Stephane Aziz KI.
KVK Kortrijk, currently struggling in the Belgian league, have shown a long-term interest in Maxi. Vincent TAN, the billionaire owner of the team, wants to strengthen the squad to avoid relegation. Raoul said, “Kortrijk know Maxi is a very talented player, and his consistent performance since leaving DR Congo has impressed them. We will be in Algeria next week to make the final decision.”
Despite their position at the bottom of the league, Kortrijk sees Maxi as being able to change the game and hopes to complete negotiations with Yanga after evaluating his level in the Champions League match.
Eupen, another Belgian club, is also in the mix for Yanga’s stars. While he is more interested in Aziz KI, Eupen sees the midfielder as a player with a unique intelligence, especially in his left foot passes. A senior executive from Eupen is set to join Raoul in Algeria to closely watch Aziz KI in action.
Maxi and Aziz KI have been brilliant in Yanga by contributing 18 goals, half of the team’s total goals this season in various competitions, including the Community Shield, Premier League and African Champions League. Maxi’s nine goals, including two in the CAF elimination of Asas from Djibouti, have undoubtedly made him a sought-after talent.
