Duties And Responsibilities

  1. To guard sensitive areas where security is highly required;
  2. To search vehicles and suspected visitors or employees;
  3. To assist in firefighting;
  4. To report occurrences in his/her area and other matters relating to Security to his/her supervisors;
  5. To take preventive measures against possible theft and insecurity; and
  6. To perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by immediate Supervisor.

Qualifications And Experience

Holders of Form IV/Form VI certificate of Secondary Education/Bachelor Degree/Diploma or Certificate in any field plus Basic Auxiliary Police Training Certificate from Police Training College. The candidate must be at the age between 18 and 25 with good physical, mental and eyesight health condition who has no criminal records and has been be vetted by the Police.

The Security Services at Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) is managed by DUCE Auxiliary Police. The Police Forces and Auxiliary Services Act, Cap 322 of 2002 as amended, provides for the establishment of Auxiliary Police Forces to operate at the Dar es Salaam University College of Education as a special area.

The Auxiliary Police station is one of the components within the Deputy Principal-Administration officeIt has been there since the establishment of the Dar es Salaam University College of Education.

The Mission of DUCE Auxiliary Police

The major task of DUCE Auxiliary Police is to assist the Tanzania Police Force in maintaining peace and order, and safeguarding Public safety and community property. This is to say that the Inspector General has the command and the supervisor of the Auxiliary Police Force, and shall be responsible for the Act which established the force.
